How to Transition Your Pet's Food
Whether you’re switching to a new life stage formula, trying a food better suited to your pet’s needs, or simply introducing something new, changing your pet’s food should always be done gradually. A slow transition gives their digestive system time to adjust and helps reduce the chance of tummy upsets.
Why a gradual transition matters
Sudden changes in diet can sometimes lead to digestive discomfort, including loose stools, vomiting or a loss of appetite. By mixing the old food with the new over several days, you give your pet time to adapt while keeping mealtimes enjoyable.
A simple 7-day transition
Follow this easy guide when introducing a new food:

Every pet is different, so don’t be afraid to slow the process down if they need a little more time.
Keep an eye on your pet
As you transition, watch for signs that your pet is adjusting well. Healthy stools, a good appetite and normal energy levels are all positive indicators. If you notice ongoing digestive issues or your pet refuses to eat, consult your veterinarian before continuing the switch.
Supporting your pet through winter
Winter is a great time to check that your pet’s nutrition still matches their needs. Whether they’re moving into a new life stage, becoming less active during the colder months or requiring more specialised nutrition, choosing the right food can help support their health all season long.
Make every transition a smooth one
Changing your pet’s food doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little patience and the right approach, you can help them settle into their new diet comfortably and confidently.
